One of the reasons the walls in my house remained white for so many years was because I hated trying to choose a color from those tiny paint chips that the home improvement stores supply. After hours of deliberation, my ultimate choice would either end up not looking like what I expected or look great until it morphed into some hideous shade when the lighting changed in the room.
At this point, I've decided to stay away from the obvious blues and greens that might ordinarily compliment a fishing website (although I might sneak my favorite dark teal in somewhere.) Looking through the previous students' websites, I've also decided that I like the darker color screen background with a lighter color web page. Other than that, I think it might be best to wait and see how the pictures look on the page for any final color choices.

Of course I knew what it would be like, so my complaints are absurd. I
stuck a day in Las Vegas onto our Death Valley trip simply to pander to my

I know what you mean about colors. I too have white walls, partly because of a fear of color, and partly because I sorta like the white. I'm a bit anxious about the color choice process for my site too.
I like color and it is all over my house. I never know if people mean it when they say what great colors. I sometimes think in their minds they are saying this woman is crazy. The worse thing that can happen is you have to paint over it and start again. That said, I am also very afraid of selecting a color scheme for my website. I think it is because my topic is more conservative, or at least it seems that way to me.
Anyway, on my blog I just posted about an interesting site, ColorBlender, with a tool you can use to create a color pallette for your website.
